In the gallery above you will find a 1940 photo of nurserymen at the FCV Creswick Nursery. At first we had only nicknames for those in the photo, but then Graeme Saddington (a VSF Graduate from 1959) provided this information:

"Dodger is George Herbert Dean. He served at Gallipoli and France in the First World War. His brother was killed at Gallipoli, and when he returned to Creswick after the war, he got off the train before it reached the Creswick station. He had come home with mixed feelings and was not comfortable being welcomed home as a hero. He was named "Dodger" and the name stuck. He had some lovely grand daughters, and I was lucky enough to marry one of them in 1962."

This photo of a 1964 Divisional Fire Conference in Ballarat is too large to work in a slideshow.

Ministers

From 1899 until 1985 there was a "Minister for Forests" in all governments. While some of the dates given in photo captions overlap we believe this to be a reasonably accurate view of the responsible Ministers in that period. From 1985, and the appointment ofJoan Kirner as Minister for Conservation, Forests and Lands, there has been no separate "Minister for Forests", and various Ministers have been assigned responsibility for the Forests Act. From 1985 until 2014 we believe the responsible Ministers are represented in the gallery. We have not yet identified the relevant Ministers from 2014 onwards. Use the Parliament of Victoria website if you wish to explore further.

A list of the Ministers for Forests is available in this spreadsheet.  VicForests was formed in 2014, and a list of the relevant Ministers is also available in the spreadsheet.
