Eucalypt species, site preparation and fertiliser requirements for reforestation of the Toorongo Plateau in Central Victoria.  R. J. McKimm and D. W. Flinn.  May 1979.  16 pp. (unpubl.)

SUMMARY

An experiment to determine the eucalypt species, method of site preparation and fertiliser requirements for successful reforestation of denuded sites in the harsh environment of the Toorongo Plateau in central Victoria is described. Eucalyptus nitens exhibited satisfactory survival and early growth rates for the range of sites investigated providing they were prepared by either ripping, furrowing or ploughing and a fertiliser containing N was applied at planting. E. delegatensis was also a suitable species on less exposed sites. E. regnans and E. globulus subsp. bicostata were unsuitable due to poor survival and the reasons for this are discussed.
