One reassuring feature stands out in the otherwise stark and depressing report by Judge Stretton on the bush fires � respect for the heroism of forest officers� Judge Stretton also declared his belief in the moral integrity of the chairman of the Forests Commission (Mr Galbraith) who �found himself in the embarrassing position of being the truthful exponent of what he thought was a bad case.�
